We are 15 days to the kick off of Sturgis Bike week. I know some of ya'll will be leaving in 12 to 14 days, but I am in hopes that I will be leaving in 11 days, July 30th.

I am truly amazed at the response we have gotten and the numbers of drivers/riders that had signed up to ride and camp with us while there. What started as a crazy idea, (so I thought), has turned into almost a major event for the drivers in the trucking industry. We have Truck Shows all over the country all year round. Never before have just the drivers tried to create an event for fun, outside of the trucking industry. They wont be any show trucks to shine and polish, (just your bike), there wont be any driver recruiters, no truck dealers trying to talk you into buying their truck, no people telling you how to make it in the trucking world or any other of the things you see at any other gathering of truck drivers.

MTV True Life request to Veterans with PTSD

Below is a comment that was left on a post about PTSD. I got about 4 hours of sleep, but I may told ya'll that in the last post. Anyway, my brother came in from work and caught a nap. Around lunch time we gathered up and headed to the SUV. Bert has been in Juneau for a week now and says that all he has seen is the children's park! ARGH!!!!

So, we headed right straight for Mendanhall Glacier! And what an awesome thing it was to see. It was about 60 degrees and overcast out side, so we did need jackets. Course, with my having come from 90 degrees temperatures, I really needed the jacket. I was COLD!

Trip to Juneau, Alaska (Part 1)

OK, I know a picture of me and Isaiah Washington (he is in NOLA shooting a film) is kind of a dramatic way to start this post, but that is how my trip to Juneau, Alaska started. Well, really it started at my house and I was running late. There was this MAD dash across New Orleans hoping that I would there with enough time to get checked in, smoke that last cigarette, get through security and not be the last on on the plane! And I did good!

Small Screen Hero's

This is the poem written by Trevor Hardwick and read by Chely Wright on Carl P & the P Team show on Sirius Road Dog channel 147. The 113th MP's from Brandon, MS came home from Iraq! It was just a year ago that the MS PGR escorted this find men and women as they were on their way TO Iraq. I was not able to make that mission, but I was not going to miss this one. We staged up outside the south gate of camp Shelby and waited for the busses to roll out the gate.

As you can see from these pictures, there was a great turnout of PGR for this mission. I know I speak for many, if not all of the PGR membership when I say that to be able to do a "feel good" mission once in a while, to see these men and women reunited with their families, helps us all and means so very much to us and our troops.

My Flag, My Country, My Son, & Me

I am sitting here this morning, looking out my front window at the American Flag in my front yard. Each night I do the same for a few minutes. I have lights out on it so I can leave it up at night. They are LED lights and it give the flag an eerie, almost ghostly glow as it waves in the wind. I can't explain why I take a few minutes each morning and evening to just look at it, but I do. Maybe it is what is means to me and my family that I take that little bit of time each day to be thankful that it is the American flag waving in my front yard and not some other.

But right now, due to some things going on in my life and my son's life, I feel compelled to share with ya'll part of our story that you may not have heard before.

As many of you know, my oldest son, Kenny, got out of the Army last October. He and I were in Iraq at the same time in 2005, him a soldier and me a civilian truck driver. We are both home now, but I believe that nether of us have totally left Iraq behind. He deals with PTSD and I, well I deal with my own stuff and try to help him with his.
